Crows Ambassador Sam Willoughby has won a silver medal in the men’s BMX competition at the London Games.

Willoughby, 20, was unable to catch Beijing Games champion Maris Strombergs, of Latvia, who held the lead by the first corner. The margin was .353 seconds.

World Champion Willoughby comfortably won the first two of his semi-final races and then finished third in the last run to confirm his spot in the final.

"I definitely rode a lot better today, so to come out with a silver medal is a huge honour," he said. "Maris and I have gone back and forth from one-two all year. I'm not the slightest bit disappointed. I'm very happy."
