Midfielder Scott Thompson can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early guilty plea for rough conduct against Western Bulldogs defender Brett Goodes in the third quarter of Sunday’s game at AAMI Stadium.

Contact was made as Goodes tried to evade Thompson near the boundary line. The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

He has an existing six-year good record, reducing the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record.

Thompson has until late-Tuesday morning to decide whether to challenge the Match Review Panel’s finding.
