Sloaney on Sando giving 100-year-old Adelaide member Dorothy Harris a lift to last week’s game after seeing her waiting at a bus stop on his drive to AAMI Stadium …
“I’ve been in a similar position before and never been game enough to do it, but how nice is Sando? He’s just an absolute gentleman. It didn’t surprise me at all that he did that. He’s a very kind man and Dorothy is an absolute star. She’s 100 years old, but when you meet her you’d think she was 70 or 80. She’s in great nick and it blew me out of the water the way she handled herself when she came to the Club.”
On Patrick Dangerfield’s playing ability …
“I haven’t seen anyone play like Danger before. He plays with the maturity and experience of a 30-year-old and has just amazing speed. Some of the things he does, like ripping balls out of packs, getting up with guys on him and trying to run away – it’s almost cheeky. I don’t know anyone else who tries to do that and he can do it. He’s got that much talent. He’s starting to figure out the balance you need to be a very good midfielder. He’s been getting tagged and had a few tough games this season, but his maturity has definitely shone through.”
On which teammate is first to check the paper to see if he’s been named in the best players …
“Danger, definitely.”
On which teammate hates flying the most …
“Jared Petrenko is afraid of flying. He grips his seat and sweats a lot as well. The poor bloke, he just hates it.”
On the stingiest teammate …
“I think Ben Rutten goes under the radar a bit, but I’ve got him … he’s on my radar.”
