Adelaide defender Luke Brown believes senior Crows, including himself, are letting the younger contingent down.
Following two comprehensive losses, Brown called on Adelaide’s experienced players to set the standard.
“The young guys are bringing more energy than us senior blokes, which is pretty disappointing,” Brown told the media on Tuesday.
“We need to lift our intensity to lead the way for them.
“What’s important is getting behind the young guys, giving them the opportunity and giving them encouragement to succeed at the higher level.”
Brown admitted players and coaches were “really embarrassed” with how the team had performed over the past two weeks.
“We’re not delivering the standard we need at an AFL level,” he said.
“Tals (Daniel Talia) made good points yesterday about keeping each other accountable.
“The good thing is in footy you get another week… we’re looking forward to the opportunity to rectify it.”
On Monday, the AFL announced contact training would be limited to groups of up to nine players - groups of 10 or more are prohibited from contact training for the next four weeks.
Brown said it would make training difficult, given the Crows’ situation.
“The areas we want to focus on we can’t do it at training this week,” he said.
“(But) you can’t control what the AFL brings out at the moment, you just have to roll with it and bring out the right mindset on game day.”
