Monday is International White Ribbon Day.
Sam Jacobs and Ben Rutten are official ambassadors for the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence against women. White Ribbon Australia is a non-profit organisation and Australia's only national, male-led primary prevention campaign to end men’s violence against women.
The aim of White Ribbon Australia is to seek to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to, and perpetuate men’s violence against women, by engaging boys and men to lead social change.
In particular, Australia's unique Ambassadors Program supports thousands of men, such as Jacobs and Rutten and CEO Steven Trigg, to be the faces and leaders of the campaign, by living the White Ribbon Oath: never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.
Sam Jacobs said the day brings our attention to a worldwide issue.
“It’s a day to remind all men, that every day they should take the oath, and make sure their brothers, fathers, mates and colleagues all promise to do the same,” Jacobs said.
“Never to commit, excuse or remain silent against violence against women or children. Swear today!”
