What’s your home town, and where is it?
Beaufort, Victoria. It’s a small country town about 35 minutes out of Ballarat. As you drive from Adelaide to Melbourne, you go through Beaufort. It’s home to about 800 people.
Anything interesting or weird about the town?
I guess one weird thing is that we got our first set of traffic lights only a couple of years ago. There’s only one set in the main street. It was a big deal at the time.
Any famous people from there?
Shane O’Bree.
(O’Bree played 246 games for Collingwood and Brisbane between 1998 and 2010. Like Crouch, he played for the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup. He’s now an assistant coach at Geelong)
What is the local footy team?
The Beaufort Crows. They wear almost exactly the same kit as the Adelaide Crows, except Beaufort have a big Crow in the centre of the guernsey. Otherwise it’s the same as our home strip. So, I’ve always worn the Crows guernsey.
(The Beaufort Crows play in the Central Highlands Football League. The Club won back-to-back premierships in 1995-96, just prior to the Adelaide Football Club winning consecutive AFL flags in 1997-98. Neither Beaufort nor Adelaide has won a premiership since)

Best place to eat?
The Day Café. Family friends own it and put on a good feed.
Has it produced any other AFL footballers?
Shane O’Bree and, maybe, Matt Crouch down the track.
(Brad’s younger brother, Matt is a promising footballer in his own right. Matt represented Australia as part of the AIS-AFL Academy’s tour of Europe and is likely to be a sought-after player in this year’s National Draft)
What would you recommend to any tourist?
Stop for a quick feed and then keep moving! It’s a nice town, but there’s not much to see tourism-wise.
