A special Crows Nativity scene was the highlight of the Crows Foundation Christmas Carols at The Shed on Wednesday night.
Narrated by Taylor Walker and starring Rory Sloane as ‘hairy Mary’, Patrick Dangerfield as Joseph and Nathan van Berlo, Sam Jacobs and Eddie Betts as the three kings, the nativity attracted plenty of laughs from the strong crowd of almost 1,000 people.
Crows ambassador and Australian country music singer and songwriter Beccy Cole headlined the Carols, and was supported brilliantly by 12-year-old Jessye Campbell, who performed a solo.
The popular event, which was hosted by Andrew Crowell and Belinda Heggen, also featured Tinsel the Reindeer Show, the FIVEaa All-Stars and a special visit from Father Christmas.
The entire Crows playing squad was also on hand, selling raffle tickets, helping out with the Crows Supporters Group sausage sizzle and signing autographs. Scott Thompson and Luke Brown manned the Toyota Christmas Tree, which was brimming with presents generously donated by guests. The players will deliver the presents to children in need in time for Christmas.
Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to a great cause – all funds raised on the night will support the Crows Foundation’s 2013 charity partners: The Leukaemia Foundation, Camp Quality and The Asthma Foundation.
