Stats that matter
Jacob Townsend did the job on Brownlow medallist Jobe Watson
in the first half last weekend, keeping the Essendon captain to eight disposals and one clearance. Watson finished the game with 21 touches.

Patrick Dangerfield amassed more possessions (35) than any other player in Round Six.

Star Giant Jeremy Cameron slotted a career-high six goals, including four in the first half, against the Bombers.

Jason Porplyzia (six) holds the record for most Crows goals against GWS.

Promising midfielder Adam Treloar is ranked equal-eighth in the AFL in hard-ball gets (32), level with Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin. Co-captain Callan Ward is top 20 in clearances (33). Mature age defender Tim Mohr is second in the League for rebound 50ms (33).

Adelaide has used 31 players so far this season, including two debutants (Rory Laird and Brad Crouch).

Despite not having won a game this season, the stats suggest the Giants are a five-goal better team this season compared to last year. The developing team is winless but after six rounds has decreased its average losing margin to 47 points compared to 77 across the 2012 season.

Scott Thompson polled the two Brownlow Medal votes in both games against GWS last season.

News bites
Giants on the way up with, or without wins: Sheedy – AFL.com.au
KEVIN Sheedy believes his Greater Western Sydney side will end the year showing significant improvement – even if it fails to win a single game. The Giants have started their second year with six straight defeats, but the losing margins have been much less than during its debut season, when blowouts by 15 goals or more were commonplace.
