Forward Josh Jenkins’season is over after scans revealed he has a fractured right ankle.
Jenkins was takenfrom the ground on a stretcher after landing awkwardly in a marking contestearly in the last quarter of the Crows’ loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.He was taken to hospital for scans, which revealed the break.
The former rookiewill fly back to Adelaide with the team on Sunday and the injury will bere-assessed on Monday. The Club will provide a further update when one isavailable.
It’s a cruel blowfor Jenkins, who has played every game this season and kicked 24 goals in theabsence of spearhead Taylor Walker.
Adelaide’s keyforward curse, which started with a season-ending knee injury to Walker inRound Four, claimed a second victim on Saturday night, with utility ShaunMcKernan suffering a sprained ankle.
McKernan was able toreturn to the field after sustaining the injury, but was substituted out of thegame late in the third quarter. Coach Brenton Sanderson said McKernan would be“touch and go” for Showdown XXXV at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. Bernie Vincerequired stitches for a nasty cut above his eye, but wasn’t concussed and willbe fit to play next week.
In better news,Sanderson said key duo Patrick Dangerfield (AC joint sprain) and Ben Rutten(bruised shoulder) were expected to play against Port Adelaide.
