Patrick Dangerfield received maximum votes from the coaches in Adelaide’s 11-point loss to Hawthorn at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Dangerfield collected 35 possessions (20 contested), nine clearances, eight marks, five inside 50ms and two goals in a dominant display. The explosive midfielder polled 10 votes from Brenton Sanderson and Alastair Clarkson to rocket to equal-fifth place in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year. It’s Dangerfield’s second perfect 10 of the season, having earned top votes against the Western Bulldogs in Round Four.

Defender Daniel Talia, who held Hawks star Lance Franklin goalless, was Adelaide’s next-best vote-getter (four). Hawthorn pair Luke Hodge and Josh Gibson were also awarded four votes.

Utility Jarryd Roughead (three), final-quarter hero Luke Breust (two) and ball magnet Sam Mitchell (two) were the other Hawks players to earn recognition from the coaches.

Inexperienced Crow Sam Kerridge also received a vote for his shutdown job on Grant Birchall.
