GOLD Coast veteran Campbell Brown will play on for the Suns next season.

Brown has played 205 games and is nearing the end of his third season at Gold Coast, after spending nine at Hawthorn.

The 29-year-old was out of contract at season's end but revealed he reached an agreement with the club that would see him feature in 2014.

"I've just agreed with terms the Suns to play on again for next year," Brown said on Channel Nine's The Footy Show.

"I'm pretty excited."

Earlier on Thursday Suns coach Guy McKenna insisted Brown, along with the club's other veterans in Michael Rischitelli and Nathan Bock were wanted players.

Brown still has two games to serve of his three-match ban for kicking Melbourne's James Strauss in the face.

The incident left Strauss with a 20cm cut that required stiches and a broken nose.

Brown was forced to sit out the opening six rounds of the 2013 season and joked his poor record had meant his new contract was void of a base salary due to his lack of game time.

"I'm back on match payments now," he laughed.
