Rory Sloane was adjudged to be Adelaide’s best player in the Club’s 19-point win over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday.

Coaches Brenton Sanderson and Michael Voss awarded Sloane eight of a possible 10 votes for his performance, in which he worked tirelessly to gather 22 possessions, 11 marks, five inside 50ms and a goal. Neat-kicking Lions defender Pearce Hanley also received eight votes from the coaches for his 31-possession game.

Final-quarter hero Patrick Dangerfield (seven votes) was the next best vote-getter. Tall forward Josh Jenkins (three votes), leading possession-winner Scott Thompson (two votes) and in-form midfielder Richard Douglas (one vote) were the other Crows to earn votes from the coaches.

Sloane’s eight votes were enough to put him to the top of the Crows leaderboard in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award, given no Adelaide player received votes in the Round One loss to Essendon.

Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack (18 votes) heads the overall leaderboard after two rounds.
