Adelaide led the way in the AFL Fantasy stakes on Saturday against the Demons, with four popular Crows cracking the Fantasy ton.

Brodie Smith ($448,704) was again amongst Adelaide’s best with a 110-point performance from a game-high 30 disposals and seven marks. It was the third time this season that Smith has surpassed the 100-point mark, with the 22-year-old now inside the top ten defenders for total points scored. Smith used his pace and precision kicking to great effect against the Demons, taking eight bounces and operating at 83.3 per cent disposal efficiency for the match. With a break even of 72 and still just 2.5 per cent ownership amongst the Fantasy community, Smith would be a great addition to any side after Adelaide’s Round Eight bye.

A new role in the midfield for Rory Laird ($374,483) reaped rewards on the Fantasy front, as the 20-year-old posted a season-high 92 points on Saturday afternoon. After missing the opening two rounds of the AFL season, Laird looked back in his element against the Demons, collecting 22 disposals and six marks in a solid performance. Laird could be a shrewd selection for Fantasy coaches if he continues his current form, after trimming over $10k from his 2014 starting price. His scoring potential will rise with more time in the midfield and up forward, so Fantasy coaches should consider Laird as a handy mid-priced pick as we approach the bye rounds.

Ruckman Sam Jacobs ($489,807) has been one of Adelaide’s most consistent Fantasy performers in 2014. The 202 cm Crow notched 110 points against the Dees for his fifth Fantasy ton of the season. Jacobs amassed a season-high 41 hit outs and 17 possessions and remains the No.1 ranked ruckman in AFL Fantasy for total points scored this year. Fantasy coaches need to move quickly on ‘Sauce’, as his price could swell beyond $500k when Adelaide returns after the bye in Round Nine.
