Adelaide utility Ricky Henderson has joined captain Nathan van Berlo on the long-term injury list.

Henderson suffered a fractured tibia at the ankle at training in February. The athletic 25-year-old required surgery to have a plate inserted in his left ankle. He’s progressing well in his rehabilitation and is hopeful of returning to the field late in the season.

Last week, the Crows placed van Berlo on the long-term injury list. This means the Club has the option of promoting two rookies to take Henderson and van Berlo’s spots for the duration of their stay on the long-term injury list, which under AFL requirements is a minimum of eight weeks.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said the Crows were in no rush to elevate a rookie, adding “We’ll elevate a rookie when we want to play one.”

Adelaide’s rookie-listed players are Charlie Cameron, James Battersby, Alex Spina, Jake Kelly and Jack Osborn.
