Rory Laird has been nominated for the AFL Mark of the Year for Round 16.

Laird received a big ride off the back of Tomas Bugg on the wing during the second quarter of Adelaide’s 68-point win over the Giants.

The former Crows rookie started the game as Adelaide’s substitute, but was activated early in the first quarter to replace injured veteran Ben Rutten.

Laird is currently in second place in this week’s polling with 26 per cent of the vote, trailing Carlton skipper Marc Murphy on 54 per cent.

James Podsiadly (Round 13 and Round Seven) and Scott Thompson (Round Five) are the only other Crows to be nominated for the award this season, but both failed to win the weekly vote.
