The Adelaide Football Club has launched a Past Player and Officials Ltd Board and Association.

The primary function of the new Board and Association is to live and breathe the culture and values of the Adelaide Football Club from the past 24 years.

Chairman of the Club’s new Past Player and Official Association, premiership defender Rod Jameson, said the aim was to re-engage and connect all past players and officials of the Club.

“It’s about encouraging past players and officials to embrace the move to Adelaide Oval and get along to one or more matches to catch up and support the current team,” Jameson said.

“This announcement is the culmination of months of hard work by the Board, updating the database and contacting players and officials. Our database is 70% accurate so there are still some players and officials who we’ve not been able to contact yet. But the feedback we’ve received from those we have contacted has been awesome.

“A key aspect this year is a reserved seating ticketing option at Adelaide Oval for all past players and officials. We’ll all be sitting together which will be fantastic.”

Another key aspect of the new Board will be to oversee the establishment of a welfare fund.

Whilst the specifics are still to be finalised, the Board will recognise, process and assist any past players and officials who require assistance. The AFLPA currently underpins this process, but the new Board will compile and present any applications from past players and officials to the AFLPA on behalf of the individual.

“It’s all about looking out for each other,” Jameson said.

“We did it on the field and now we are doing it off the field.”

Adelaide football Club CEO Steven Trigg said the Past Players and Official Board was an important step in recognizing the history of the Adelaide Football Club and the contribution made by past players and officials.

"The culture of our Club is extremely important and our past players and officials have helped to define that," Trigg said.

"I'd like to thank the Chairman Rod Jameson for his vision and leadership which has resulted in the formation of the Past Players and Officials Board and Association."

The Board consists of Rod Jameson (Chairman), Nick Takos (Deputy Chair), John Condon (Secretary), Barrie Downs, Stephen Rowe, Shane Fuller, Peter Caven, Kym Koster and Nigel Smart, and the Executive of Tony Modra, Taylor Walker, Phil Harper and Ann Pilkington.

As well as ticketing and player welfare, the Association has planned events including a golf day, which took place in mid-March and a bus trip to Clare to watch the Crows State League team play Port Adelaide on May 4.
