West Coast ruckman Dean Cox appears likely to miss Saturday’s clash with Adelaide after the veteran ruckman was concussed in Friday night’s game at Patersons Stadium.
Cox, who announced he would retire from football at the end of the year, was subbed out of the game after being felled by Richmond’s Ty Vickery in a ruck contest during the second term. Vickery was reported for his part in the incident.
West Coast is yet to confirm whether Cox is available to confront the Crows this weekend, but scans have cleared the star ruckman of any structural damage.
West Coast assistant coach Brady Rawlings spoke on Perth radio and the club was thankful there was no serious damage.
"Structurally he is OK, just the concussion last night is all he got away with," Rawlings said.
“[It's] just disappointing to be losing a ruckman during the second quarter and lose him for the rest of the game," Rawlings said.
West Coast were eventually overrun by Richmond in wet conditions at Patersons Stadium, with the Tigers upsetting the home side by 17 points.
"Obviously it is not ideal when you have got someone sitting on the bench due to an incident like that."
Cox has since received a phone call from Vickery who apologised for the hit.
