Crows coach Phil Walsh has ruled out having co-captains in Season 2015.
Nathan van Berlo, who has been captain since 2011, continued in the role this year despite being unable to play a game because of a serious Achilles injury. Vice-captains Rory Sloane and Patrick Dangerfield shared the match-day captaincy duties in van Berlo’s absence.
Former West Coast captain Darren Glass has been brought in as a leadership mentor at Adelaide.
Walsh, who has only been with the Club a few weeks, said a decision on who would lead the Crows next season and beyond would be made over the summer.
“I don’t believe in co-captains, so we’ll have one captain. I’ve only just come into the job though and haven’t met all the players (face-to-face) yet, so that will be worked out in the pre-season,” Walsh said in a video of fan questions on Channel Crow.
“I’m very strong that leaders need to be able to get the job done on game day. That’s the thing I’ll be looking for most in my leaders, that on game day they can play their role and take other people with them.”
