Scott Thompson and James Podsiadly could both be available for Adelaide’s Saturday night blockbuster against Richmond.
Thompson missed the Club’s 105-point win over the Brisbane Lions because of a niggling back/hamstring complaint, but trained on Sunday and hopes to be available for selection.
Podsiadly (soreness) also sat out the Brisbane clash. Like Thompson, Podsiadly will aim to prove his fitness at training in the lead-up to the sold out match at Adelaide Oval.
Forward Tom Lynch will be assessed after suffering a jarred neck in a sickening collision at the Gabba on Sunday. Lynch was taken from the ground on a stretcher following head-on contact in the second quarter. He was taken to hospital for precautionary scans, which cleared him of any serious damage.
Defender Andy Otten will have a knee reconstruction after scans on Monday confirmed a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
Otten, 25, sustained the injury in the second quarter of Adelaide’s win over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. Otten was taken from the ground on a stretcher after his right knee gave way as he prepared to jump into a marking contest.
Patrick Dangerfield sustained a knock to his knee, but played out the game and isn't considered in any doubt this week.
Veterans Ben Rutten (rested) and Jason Porplyzia (illness) were both late withdrawals from Adelaide’s SANFL win over Glenelg, but will be available for selection this week. Defender Sam Shaw rolled his ankle in Saturday’s SANFL game, but is also expected to be fit.
Defender Kyle Hartigan will miss the rest of the season as he recuperates from a lacerated spleen sustained in the SANFL last month. Captain Nathan van Berlo continues to make good progress in his recovery from a ruptured Achilles.
The Crows will have an open training session at Adelaide Oval from 10:00am on Friday, August 15. The session will run up to one hour.
