Crows supporters selected Magpie Dayne Beams and Hawk Grant Birchall as the final players in Adelaide’s fan-selected AFL Fantasy team.
Beams was a handy last-minute addition to the squad, with the 24-year-old posting 122 Fantasy points in Friday night’s season opener against Fremantle. Fellow Collingwood midfielder Scott Pendlebury matched Beams’ score, while Dustin Martin notched 100 Fantasy points against the Suns as one of our starting forwards.
Fantasy favourite Gary Ablett was another standout in our side, as the dual Brownlow Medallist gathered 41 possessions and booted two goals for a monster 141 Fantasy points. Fortunately, Ablett was also our Fantasy captain for Round One and had his points doubled to 282.
We will continue to seek fan input through polls on afc.com.au, Facebook and Twitter to develop our Fan Fantasy side. Our Fantasy league kicks off in Round Three of the AFL season against fan-selected teams from clubs including Brisbane, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Geelong and West Coast.
It will be up to Crows fans to manage our all-important trades, weekly captain selections and backup emergencies throughout the 2014 season.
So stay tuned tuned to afc.com.au, Facebook and Twitter to continue to have your say in Adelaide’s AFL Fantasy team as we build towards our Fan Fantasy opening matchup in Round Three of the AFL season.
