Eddie Betts’ phenomenal goal from the boundary line in Round 13 has been crowned the landslide winner of our Crows Goals of the Year poll.
Betts received a whopping 60 per cent of the total vote to claim the title ahead of runner-up Ben Rutten. Eddie also claimed third position in the countdown with his miraculous strike off the deck at the Gabba.
It was no surprise that Eddie’s amazing snap was the most popular goal of the season. Betts’ effort was an AFL Goal of the Year finalist and was unlucky to miss out on the overall award.
With the Crows leading by nine points late in the first term, Eddie swooped on a loose ball along the boundary line in Adelaide’s forward half.
As quick as a flash, Betts collected the ball, darted inside 50m and sent the snap towards goal all while North Melbourne’s Aaron Mullett closed in from the corridor.

The 19th Man erupted in crescendo as the ball sailed true, and ‘Eddie’s pocket’ was officially crowned.
The title caps off an outstanding debut season for Betts as a Crow. He claimed the Chelsea Phillis Coaches Award at the Crows Club Champion presentation, finished the season as the Club’s leading goalkicker with a career-high 51 majors, and was selected in the AFL’s All Australian squad for the third time.
