Two Crows have been ranked inside the top 10 of the Official AFL Player Ratings after the conclusion of Season 2014.
Vice-captains Patrick Dangerfield (4th) and Rory Sloane (7th) were ranked alongside the competition’s elite in the post-season hierarchy, which was compiled by stats specialists Champion Data.
Grand Finalists Sydney was the only other club to have two players inside the top ten.
Sloane was one of the most improved players in the top 50 according to the Player Ratings formula, improving from position No.21 from the start of the season.
Dangerfield was ranked in second spot in the pre-season table behind Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett, who retained the No.1 ranking.
All Australian defender Brodie Smith continued his upward trend to finish 34th after beginning the year outside the top 100.
Sam Jacobs also improved significantly from position No.147 to be ranked a career-high 43rd as the second-best ruckman in the competition behind North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein (16th).
2010 Crows Club Champion Richard Douglas ranked 47th in the league, while Eddie Betts was the only other remaining Crow in the top 100 at position No.71.
The ratings, which were introduced in 2012, are based on a statistical algorithm that measures a player’s impact on each passage of play from their last 40 games. Players are then given a total score that fluctuates depending on their subsequent performances.
