Adelaide has pulled off one of the steals of the 2014 National Draft, snaring talented defender Jake Lever with pick No.14.
Lever, 18, was viewed as a potential top-10 selection pre-draft, but slipped through to the Crows at Thursday night’s meet on the Gold Coast.

Adelaide selected dynamic left-footer Harrison Wigg with its second-round selection at pick No.35.
Wigg, who was one of nine South Australians to be selected, was SA’s MVP in the NAB Under 18s Championships and was also named in the Under-18 All Australian squad.
Tall forward Mitch McGovern and ruckman Harry Dear were Adelaide’s final two selections at pick No.43 and 58, respectively.
Touted as one of the most even drafts in memory, the night did not disappoint, beginning with St Kilda’s No.1 pick.
St Kilda selected Geelong Falcons forward Patrick McCartin with the No.1 pick, ahead of midfielders Christian Petracca and Angus Brayshaw, who were both selected by Melbourne.
NT Thunder product Nakia Cockatoo was picked up by Geelong to close out the top 10.
North Melbourne selected West Adelaide defender Sam Durdin with pick No.16. Durdin was the first South Australian to be claimed at the meet.

A total of 76 players were selected at the National Draft meet at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Eighteen players were selected from the AIS AFL Academy program with nine Indigenous players drafted.
The Calder Cannons had seven players selected overall, including Adelaide’s own Jake Lever, as well as two players inside the top 10.
