It was a mixed Round One initiation for Adelaide’s fan-selected AFL Fantasy team.
Our side scored a very respectable 2022 points in the ‘free hit’ Round One, but there are still many areas for improvement as we build towards our first League clash in Round Three.
The ruck combination of Sam Jacobs (108 points) and Aaron Sandilands (110) proved to be a stroke of genius. Sandilands is a popular pick in AFL Fantasy this season, selected in a whopping 66 per cent of all teams, but the faith of Crows supporters in our own Sam Jacobs, who features in barely five per cent of Fantasy sides, has paid early dividends.
Rory Sloane was another Crow who represented us well in Round One, posting 109 Fantasy points in Adelaide’s opener against Geelong. Sloane gathered 20 disposals and laid an AFL-high 12 tackles to be our highest scoring Crow for the round.
David Swallow was our best-performing defender with 114 Fantasy points in Gold Coast’s win over Richmond. Grant Birchall was another to crack the ton with 103 points from the Hawk’s 31-possession and eight-mark performance in Tasmania against Brisbane.
Dom Tyson has also brought himself into contention for a regular starting spot amongst our premium midfielders after an eye-catching 116 points for Melbourne. Tyson will replace Matt Crouch on the field this weekend, given the young Crow missed out on AFL selection for Adelaide's trip to Simonds Stadium in Round One.
Other non-playing members of our side included Tom Boyd, Sam Blease and Mitch Honeychurch, which meant our side copped a dreaded ‘doughnut’ in the forward line.
Our squad needs players who have assured job security at their clubs. Vote below on which similarly-priced forward should replace Tom Boyd on the field, and which bargain forwards we can select to improve our bench.

We will continue to seek fan input through polls on afc.com.au, Facebook and Twitter to develop our Fan Fantasy side. Our Fantasy league kicks off in Round Three of the AFL season against fan-selected teams from clubs including Brisbane, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Geelong and West Coast.
