Patrick Dangerfield says he has “no interest” in leaving Adelaide when his contract expires in 2015.
Responding to an article in The Age newspaper which suggested Dangerfield could look to return to Victoria as soon as the end of next year if Adelaide can’t guarantee him on-field success, Dangerfield said fans should not be concerned by his decision not to extend his contract at this early stage.
“I certainly have no interest in leaving Adelaide,’’ Dangerfield told The Advertiser.
“There is certainly no cause for alarm for anyone. I enjoy playing at Adelaide, I enjoy living here and I’ve got a great network of friends.
“But I just don’t see the need to worry about my contract at this point when I’ve still got almost two years to go. It is something which will take care of itself further down the track.’’
Dangerfield reaffirmed on-field success was his main priority and said he was confident he could achieve that at Adelaide.
“Sometimes (news) articles can be pointed in one direction. You can chat on the phone for 20 minutes, but they’re never going to print everything that you spoke about throughout the interview. The quotes that were used were accurate, but they were also followed up with – when I spoke about wanting to be a part of a successful side – that I have no doubt that, that is the Crows and that we’re going in the right direction,” Dangerfield told FIVEaa.
“I have every confidence in the world we’re going to be a very good side. I’m one year into a three-year contract and I’m very, very happy in Adelaide.”
