Ricky Henderson could make his long-awaited return from injury in the SANFL this weekend.
Henderson hasn’t played since fracturing his leg at the ankle in a pre-season training session in February. The athletic utility had surgery to repair the injury and has completed an extensive rehabilitation program.
If Henderson completes training this week, he’s likely to play in Adelaide’s SANFL clash with Central District at Elizabeth on Saturday. Forward Tom Lynch is a week away from returning from a fractured jaw.
Matthew Jaensch and Matthew Wright, who are both recovering from concussion, will be assessed ahead of Saturday night’s blockbuster against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval. Jaensch was concussed in a collision with Fremantle forward Hayden Ballantyne in the fourth quarter on Sunday.
Wright didn’t make the trip to Perth after failing a concussion test on Saturday. Wright suffered a head knock against Carlton a fortnight ago, but symptoms didn’t present until last week.
Ruckman Angus Graham (illness) and young defender Sam Siggins (hamstring) will face fitness tests this week after being late withdrawals from Adelaide’s SANFL win over Woodville-West Torrens. Young midfielder Brad Crouch made a successful return from a fractured leg against the Eagles, but coach Brenton Sanderson indicated the Rising Star runner-up, who has played limited game time this season, was likely to spend another week in the State League before being considered for AFL selection. See the full players stats from the Club’s SANFL win over the Eagles.
Forward Jared Petrenko, who was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his leg last week, will miss at least a month, while Lewis Johnston faces another two months on the sidelines as he recovers from surgery on a tendon in his hand.
The Crows will hold an open training session from 10:00am at Adelaide Oval on Friday, June 13. The session will run up to one hour. Entry is via the Southern Plaza or Northern Gate.
Limited tickets remain for Adelaide’s game against the Kangaroos. Become a Bronze 3-Game Member for just $85 to secure your place at three Crows home games, including anticipated clashes with the Roos, Hawthorn and Richmond.
