Hawthorn midfielder Brad Sewell will miss Friday night’s blockbuster clash with Adelaide and could be sidelined for a further three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Sewell was subbed out of the Hawks’ Round 16 match against North Melbourne early in the first term after injuring his right leg while kicking the ball inside forward 50.
Scans revealed the 30-year-old veteran had suffered a low grade strain which could keep him out of action for a month.
Hawthorn GM Football Operations Chris Fagan said Sewell is now eyeing a late-season return for the Hawks.
“Brad will get straight into a solid rehabilitation block with our medical staff and hopefully return within the next month to contribute to the back end of our season,” Fagan said.
It is the second time this year that Sewell has suffered a hamstring injury.
The tough Hawk tore his hamstring in Hawthorn’s final practice match against Melbourne back in early March which kept the veteran midfielder out of AFL action until Round 10.
