Fifteen SANFL footballers are among the 96 players invited to this year’s NAB AFL Draft Combine in early October.
Former Collingwood rookie Brett Eddy – the leading goalkicker in the SANFL this season with South Adelaide – is the most senior of the group and will be joined by a number of promising teenagers from SA’s national title-winning under-18 squad.
Possible top-five draft picks Christian Petracca, Angus Brayshaw and Peter Wright are among Vic Metro's 28-player presence at the combine, while key forward Patrick McCartin is one of 16 representatives for Vic Country.
Western Australia has had 12 players picked to attend the combine and there are 19 players from the New South Wales/ACT and Queensland academies.
The AFL has left space to upgrade four players if their performances at the end of the season warrant a spot, and will this week organise invitations for state draft combines around the country.
