Crows fans will again have free public transport included with their match tickets this season, with the MAC Footy Express buses secured for the next three years.
The buses will be funded by a new agreement with both SA based AFL clubs, the Motor Accident Commission (MAC) and the State Government.
Last year approximately 459,000 footy fans travelled to Adelaide Oval via public transport.
To take advantage of the free transport, fans will just have to show their match day ticket.
Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs, who is a MAC road safety ambassador, helped launch the service on Friday at Adelaide Oval.
“It’s a great initiative and it’s something that I hold pretty close to me,” Jacobs said.
“I’m from the country so the percentages [of people involved in accidents] are much higher, I’ve got a lot of friends and family from rural areas that love to take advantage of the public transport and help them get to the ground safely.”
“We are very fortunate that we have great fans and we do pack the stadium out most weeks so it’s paramount to make sure that people get here safely…so the more options supporters have the better it is.”
State Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan said the service was a win for football fans.
"Free public transport for footy fans is important to reduce the day-out cost for families, and means we can move large numbers of fans to and from the Oval more quickly than with ticketed services,” Mr Mullighan said.
"I'd like to thank MAC, AFC and PAFC for working with the State Government to deliver an arrangement that will benefit South Australian football fans.”
