Adelaide captain Rory Sloane has dismissed the notion he spends all his free time stuck to his phone.
Power captain Tom Jonas, when asked which Crows player he would share a room with if forced, told Triple M’s The Rush Hour that Sloane wouldn’t make an ideal bunk mate.
“Crouch boys seem like a laugh, Texan would be alright, but Sloaney would be on his phone the whole time trying to get deals across the line,” Jonas said.
Sloane, however, said he really disliked his phone.
“I try to put it down as much as I can,” Sloane responded.
“I love that though from Tommy (Jonas).”
TRAINING GALLERY: The latest snaps from the side
Jokes aside, Sloane said he was eager for a Showdown clash in Round Two at Adelaide Oval.
“I can’t think of a better game to come back in Round Two,” he said.
“We had a good crack on Monday in contact training, plenty of contested work.
“It’s been a while so it felt really good.”
AFL clubs are now allowed to train in larger groups for two main training sessions per week (including contact).
Smaller sessions need to be kept in groups of up to eight.
“At the Club, we have designated areas on the track,” Sloane said.
“We’ve got a group of seven and a group of eight in the midfield on half the ground each.
“It is different compared to what you’re used to, not being able to mingle with the forwards and backs… but that’s how it is.”
