Adelaide co-captain Taylor Walker has lamented his side’s poor finish to the season and said the Club will be searching for answers this off-season.
The Crows were officially ruled out of finals on Sunday following their 34-point loss to the Western Bulldogs in Ballarat.
Speaking on Triple M’s Roo & Ditts on Wednesday morning, Walker said the team “underachieved” in 2019.
“There needs to be change, that’s a simple as it is,” Walker said.
“I think we should be playing finals, we shouldn’t be finished now.
“We set some expectations at the start of the year but haven’t made finals in the past two years.
“We need to find out why and hopefully we do over the next few weeks.”
ALL AUSTRALIAN: Talia included in 40-man squad
On Monday, the Club announced that a panel of external experts would conduct a review of its football operations.
Walker said he would be sharing his views and opinions during the review.
Regarding the captaincy in 2019, Walker said he would “sit down and think about it” before next season.
“I’ll discuss it with people I trust,” he said.
“Whether it’s something I want to do or if it’s that time of my career and time for the footy club that we put someone else in that role… or Sloaney does it by himself.
“I’ve had an OK year, some games I wish I’d played better.”
MVP NOMINATIONS: Three Crows in mix
The 29-year-old finished the season in ninth on the AFL goals tally but said he was more concerned about the Club’s success than his own statistics.
Irrespective of the captaincy, Walker said he planned to play at the highest level for as long as he could.
Looking ahead, the key forward said he had full faith in the Crows’ young players to drive the Club forward.
“Clearly there will be some changes in the list,” he said.
“But we have some young guys that will push our footy club forward.”
