Adelaide forward Taylor Walker has revealed he was “shattered” for assistant coach Ben Hart.
Following a breach of training protocols last week, Hart was suspended for six weeks and 16 Crows players were dealt a one-match suspension (suspended).
Walker told Triple M’s Roo & Ditts that the Club simply had to “put up our hand and cop it”.
“I felt as a football club we jumped through all the right hoops before heading to the Barossa,” Walker said.
“Obviously it was some human error up there (that occurred).
“You just have to cop it and move forward.”
COVID-19: All AFL players to be tested by Friday
Walker stressed there was no malicious intent in the training breach.
“Personally I think all intentions were for the right reason… we haven’t tried to gain a competitive advantage,” he said.
“I just think it was human error and we didn’t execute the correct way.
“We didn’t set out to break the rules.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the AFL confirmed every player would be tested for COVID-19 before the end of the week.
A return to games has been earmarked for next month, however training in larger groups has not yet been approved by the AFL.
