West Coast captain Shannon Hurn is free to confront Adelaide at Domain Stadium on Saturday night after being cleared by the Match Review Panel for a high bump in last weekend’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.
The South Australian was involved in an incident involving the Dogs’ Jordan Roughead during the third term of Sunday’s clash at Etihad Stadium and appeared to make contact with Roughead’s head in the collision.
Roughead was sandwiched between Hurn and Eagles ruckman Scott Lycett received a heavy knock from Hurn’s shoulder as he was tackled. The Bulldog was left dazed following the incident and had to be helped from the field by trainers.
Enemy: McGovern right for return
The MRP deemed Roughead’s own momentum caused the contact as he was tackled by Lycett. Hurn braced for contact and made no bumping action, with the high hit adjudged as outside of Hurn’s control.
No further action was taken by the MRP and the defender will be free to play against the Crows in Round 12.
