Defender Luke Thompson returns from a serious ankle injury to strengthen the Eagles for the last home-and-away round in the SANFL this weekend.
Thompson, who has not played for six weeks, joins Cam Ellis-Yolmen in the Eagles’ defence for a crucial clash with West Adelaide on Sunday at Richmond. The winner of this game will secure a top three finish.
Jared Petrenko (knee) was unavailable for the Eagles, while Jason Porplyzia has been ruled out of playing for West.
A foot injury will stop Matthew Wright from playing for North against minor premiers Norwood on Sunday. And SANFL rules also stop Lewis Johnston (North) and Mitch Grigg (Norwood) playing this round, although both are eligible for the finals series.
Brodie Martin has recovered from an ankle injury and will line up for Sturt in its final game of 2013. He joins Matthew Jaensch, Angus Graham and Tim McInytre for the clash with Central District but Richard Tambling and Sam Kerridge are not allowed to return to the Double Blues after finishing the season with the Crows.
Ian Callinan can’t play for the Bulldogs until the finals but rookie ruckman Jack Osborn has been named.
There will be no Crows-listed players in Saturday’s game at Glenelg. Jarryd Lyons, one of Glenelg’s best this season, will miss the last game with a foot injury while Sam Shaw is unavailable.
Rory Atkins (Sturt) and Sam Siggins (North) are playing in the reserves.
South has the bye in the last round.
