Momentum is building for two of the biggest free agents on the market to switch clubs as their window to move swings open on Friday.

The Kangaroos wasted no time in securing two new players for 2015, while Melbourne defender James Frawley has informed the Demons he is leaving and AFL.com.au believes he will join Hawthorn.

Gold Coast has openly declared its interest in Sydney Swans half-back Nick Malceski.

Friday marks the beginning of the NAB AFL Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency Period.

Father-son and academy bids must also be submitted to the AFL.

Roos pounce on Higgins and Waite

North Melbourne has lodged an official offer for restricted free agent Shaun Higgins on Friday morning.

The Western Bulldogs now have 72 hours to match the Kangaroos' offer, but it is considered unlikely that the Dogs will block Higgins' move to Arden Street.

Earlier this year, Higgins put contract talks with the Bulldogs on hold to the end of the season after refusing to accept a new two-year deal.

It is believed Higgins will join the Roos on a three-year deal that has a trigger clause for a fourth season.

Carlton, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney and Richmond were among the other clubs to express interest in Higgins this year, with the Blues emerging as the Roos' greatest challenger before bowing out of the race last week.

Higgins was pick No. 11 in the 2005 national draft and played 129 matches for the Bulldogs and kicked 128 goals.

It has been a busy start to the NAB AFL Free Agency Period for the Roos, who also secured Carlton spearhead Jarrad Waite as an unrestricted free agent.

Waite informed Carlton on Monday morning that he was leaving the club to exercise his free agency rights, but did not specify which club he would be joining.

Given Waite is an unrestricted free agent, the Blues could not keep him by matching a rival offer.

Star Swan going nowhere

Sydney Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery has been linked to Richmond, but is unlikely to leave the beaten Grand Finalists.

The Herald Sun reports Hannebery is all but certain to turn his back on the Tigers' interest.

Meanwhile, young forward Tim Membrey has told the club he is keen to chase other opportunities after playing only one game in two seasons.

Essendon and the Western Bulldogs are believed to have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

Blues bad boy set for second chance

Carlton's Mitch Robinson has attracted interest from multiple clubs, as the Blues attempt to offload the tough nut and Jeff Garlett.

Robinson has met with Gold Coast officials, according to the Herald Sun, and has also been linked to Hawthorn.

Richmond has denied it is keen to add Robinson's big body to its midfield mix.

Interest in Garlett is somewhat cooler with West Coast said to have pulled back from the talented small forward.

'Schoey' wants to fit at Hawthorn

James Frawley's imminent arrival at Waverley and Brian Lake's one-year contract extension have prompted questions about the future of developing tall Ryan Schoenmakers.

However, the 23-year-old is determined to fight for his spot at either end next season, the Herald Sun reports.

Schoenmakers played 15 games in 2014 but couldn't nail down a spot and did not play in the Grand Final.
