Fremantle coach Ross Lyon could call upon several in-form players from the WAFL ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval.
Experienced duo Matt de Boer and Tendai Mzungu both impressed in Peel Thunder’s 21-point win over Claremont last Saturday.
De Boer was the leading ball-winner on the ground with 36 disposals. The 26-year-old also had nine tackles, seven marks, seven inside 50ms and kicked a goal to put himself in the frame for his first AFL appearance since Round Three.
Mzungu, who also last played in the Round Three loss to West Coast, collected 22 disposals and four marks.
Dockers captain David Mundy looks set to return from an injury-interrupted start to the year and appears a ready-made replacement for injured midfielder Nat Fyfe, who underwent surgery on a fractured leg earlier in the week.
Second-year midfielder Connor Blakely could also be in line to play his first AFL game of the season. Blakely collected 29 disposals and kicked a goal for Peel on Saturday. He’s averaged 25 touches through his WAFL appearances for 2016.
Ross Lyon could look to South Australian Jack Hannath (12 disposals, 22 hit-outs) and fellow tall Tanner Smith (22 disposals, one goal) if he believes extra height is required against the Crows this weekend.
Ed Langdon (29 possessions, 11 marks) and utility Ethan Hughes (23 posessions, four marks) also contributed strongly in Peel Thunder’s win last weekend.
