Taylor Walker and Eddie Betts provided two of the highlights of the weekend in Showdown XLI, with the Crows duo nominated for the AFL’s Mark and Goal of the Year for Round 22.
Walker received his first Mark of the Year nomination of the season after flying high in the opening term of Saturday night’s win over Port Adelaide.
The Crows captain brushed opponent Tom Clurey aside and got the perfect sit on Nathan Krakouer on centre wing, soaring into the skies to take a classic grab.

Walker is the fifth Crow to be nominated for the Mark of the Year title this season. Defenders Jake Lever and Rory Laird were both nominated in Round 14, Josh Jenkins juggled Adelaide’s next contender the following week, while Charlie Cameron received the Club’s first nomination for his hanger against West Coast in Round 12.
Laird and Jenkins are the only Crows currently in the running for the main Mark of the Year prize.
Reigning Goal of the Year winner Eddie Betts added yet another contender to his incredible highlights package in the dying moments of Adelaide’s Showdown XLI win.
The gifted goalkicker crumbed the ball off a pack perfectly at the Southern end of Adelaide Oval and snapped the sealer on his left boot with less than 30 seconds remaining in the clash with the Power.

Incredibly, it’s Betts’ fourth Goal of the Year entry of Season 2016. He had two nominations included from Adelaide’s clash with GWS in Round 10, and won the weekly vote for his stunning snap against Essendon in Round 19. He has two goals currently in the running for the main prize.
Six Crows have had a Goal of the Year contender featured so far this year, including nominees from the past four rounds in a row.
Jake Lever’s first AFL goal won last round’s poll, Brodie Smith’s long goal against Brisbane was selected in Round 20, and Betts and Mitch McGovern were both nominated in Round 19. Tom Lynch (Round Four) and Taylor Walker (Round Two) were also nominated earlier in the season.
Lever and Betts (twice) are the only Crows currently in the main Goal of the Year draw.
Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray and Collingwood’s Adam Treloar are the other Goal of the Year nominees for Round 22.
Fans can win a weekly cash prize of $200 just by voting for their favourite goal and go into the running for a $5,000 major prize at the end of the season, thanks to Coates Hire.
Voting opens at 12pm (EST) each round the day after the last game, and closes the night before commencement of the next round at 11.59pm (EST).
