GOV SIGNS (Facebook)
In a Facebook post that was liked over 20,000 times, the pre-finals announcement that exciting forward Mitch McGovern had signed a three-year deal tying him to the Club until the end of 2020. The news came just weeks after McGovern’s four-goal haul in the draw with Collingwood, including a clutch grab and finish after the siren.
RECORD-BREAKING SHOWDOWN WIN (Facebook)
Victories over cross-town rivals, Port Adelaide, are always popular with Crows fans and the emphatic Round 20 win was no exception. The brilliant Eddie Betts made a remarkable recovery from appendix surgery to kick four goals, and Sam Jacobs won his battle with would-be All Australian ruckman Paddy Ryder as Adelaide stormed to an 84-point victory. The margin was the biggest in Showdown history, prompting a huge response from fans. The final siren score on Facebook was ‘liked’ by 21,000 users, and shared more than 3,300 times.
AFLW PREMIERSHIP (Twitter)
The Adelaide Crows Women’s team made history by claiming the inaugural AFLW premiership in March. Led by co-captains Erin Phillips and Chelsea Randall, the Crows defeated the previously unbeaten Brisbane Lions by six points in a thriller at Metricon Stadium. Fans celebrated by ‘hearting’ the Club’s celebratory tweet over 1,00 times and it was retweeted by more than 500 people.

BETTS BOYS CELEBRATE (Instagram)
Adelaide’s men’s team securing its first Grand Final berth since 1998 also sent social media into a frenzy. Eddie Betts shared a special moment with eldest son Lewie following the Club’s Preliminary Final win over Geelong. The candid photo captured the hearts of football fans, with over 13,000 people giving it a ‘like’, making it Adelaide’s most popular Instagram post during Season 2017.
THOMMO RETIRES (Instagram)
On the same night, 300-game legend Scott Thompson walked a lap of honour as he said farewell to fans at half time of the Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval. The two-time Club Champion’s goodbye was an emotional one, with this image receiving over 12,500 ‘hearts’ on Instagram.
