Adelaide defender Rory Laird has leant on teammate Jake Kelly as a running partner as Crows players continue to adhere to social-distancing laws.

Laird was full of praise for Kelly and described the Crows No.8 as the key to “keeping him fit”.

“I’ve been training with Jake Kelly a fair bit,” Laird told AFC Media.

“We had the first week where we didn’t really know the restrictions and we trained in three or four… then the government implied we should be training in pairs.

“We’ve all cut back to that and I’ve been running regularly with Jake.

“He’s a great trainer, super fit… so being able to run with him has kept me fit.”

Before the rules were tightened, Laird said he also trained with Daniel Talia and Taylor Walker.

The players and coaches have all made an effort to stay in contact as much as possible.

“Obviously keep in touch with Brodie (Smith), the Crouch boys, Paul Seedsman,” Laird said.

“We’ve been really good with the coaches, having big team chats and getting everyone involved… especially the guys who have gone back interstate.”

TOM LYNCH: 'Putting others first' mantra shining through

Stuck at home, much like the rest of Australia, Laird splits his time between training, personal development and recreation.

“As much as I struggle with uni sometimes, it’s kept me in good stead,” he said.

“Exercising as much as I can and as much as I need to, playing video games with Charles (Cameron)...

“Just taking it really easy and trying to make the best out of a bad situation.”
