Adelaide wing Niamh Kelly says the team will take some time to reflect together on its 2024 campaign, following its Preliminary Final loss to Brisbane on Saturday night.
The Crows led for the first half, but could not counter a third-term blitz by the hosts and fell by 18 points at Brighton Homes Arena.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Kelly said it was a tough pill to swallow after coming so close to making a fifth AFLW Grand Final.
“Obviously we are hugely disappointed with the loss,” Kelly said.
“We have a lot of work to do and we’ll reflect on the season altogether on Wednesday.
“One thing I suppose is being able to execute when we do get our chances. We got a few chances in the first quarter (against Brisbane) and played a good quarter but we weren’t able to execute.
“That will be something we’ll look at, we’ll sit down with Doc on Wednesday and dissect the whole season.”
Kelly, who finished the match against the Lions with 15 disposals and 360 metres gained, said there were some positives to take out of the year, including the development of the squad’s younger players.
“When I reflect on the whole season, it’s been a pleasing season and there’s a lot of young girls who really stepped up and had great campaigns,” Kelly said.
“That’s what our goal has been, to consistently get to finals and we are really happy that we can consistently get to that stage.
“It's great to be in this position, but hugely disappointing to not get to the next stage but there’s lots of good things to come from the season and we’ll continue to push on.
“The next few days will be a little bit tough as we dissect the game but there is so much growth and talent in our group.”
