Adelaide midfielder Brodie Smith believes more players on the bench could prevent injuries upon the AFL’s return to games.
The 28-year-old also backed shorter quarters to remain, particularly if each Club plays multiple games in a week.
“If it is a case of jamming games into a shorter period, I think it will make it tough on some guys,” Smith said.
“I think definitely for this year, the shorter quarters might be the way to go… and potentially, even more players on the bench.
“It will look different to every year, why not try a few things and see if we can get through the year without too many blokes going down injured.”
Earlier this week, Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd said the winner of the 2020 premiership would be tainted due to the upheaved season.

Smith, who was elevated to the leadership group earlier this year, did not agree with that sentiment.
“It’s always going to be a year that will be remembered,” he said.
“(But) whether it’s 12 games, 17 games, a premiership is a premiership.
“Once we’re back out there, we’ll be doing everything we can to win it.
“It may even be more special because it’s that strange year of coronavirus, that we are able to bounce back and win a flag.”
