Adelaide fans can expect debutants throughout the season with “at least one” hopeful against Sydney, coach Matthew Nicks has said.

Speaking on Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Bernie and Jars, Nicks said the Club’s young players have been training well throughout pre-season.

“We’re hoping to play at least one in the first round,” Nicks said.

“We’ve had young guys knocking on the door and they’re going to play.

“Whether it's the first round, second round, mid-season… you’re going to see them.

“Expect it, enjoy it and embrace it… they deserve a spot.”

Nicks, who will also make his senior coaching debut against Sydney, will select his first team (pending a final decision to play from the AFL) on Thursday.

Regarding a second ruckman, Nicks said the Club would explore options.

“We will continue to have a look at it,” he said.

“We didn't get a lot of things right forward of the ball (in the Marsh series), (but) we’ve had a week to look at it and we’ve done some good work.

“We felt like the training sessions we’ve had this week have been outstanding.

“Whether we change the look down forward and go a bit taller or whether the structure will get it done for us… we’ll make that decision Thursday afternoon.”

Adelaide will face the Sydney Swans on Saturday at Adelaide Oval at 4.05pm ACDT.

The game will be played behind closed doors.
