Crows recruit Ben Crocker says the versatility of Adelaide’s forward line will present a challenge for opposition in 2020 if they can successfully gel together.
The 23-year-old impressed in Adelaide’s trial game on Saturday, kicking three goals in his second pre-season appearance in the tricolours.
Speaking to the media post-game, Crocker reflected on how he slotted in to his new side.
“When I was at Collingwood, I played deep forward and I think one of my strengths is one on one,” Crocker said.
“Everyone in our (Adelaide’s) forward line is very flexible - boys can play up high and play deep.
“If we can keep doing that we’ll be very challenging against teams this year.”
For Crocker, the ability to play with freedom is paramount and something he’s certainly found at West Lakes.
“We have such good coaches - Nicksy is amazing and so is Ben Hart our forward coach,” Crocker said.
“We’ve also got older boys like Lynchy and Tex who are a lot more relaxed and there’s so much freedom playing.
“You never feel like you’re doing the wrong thing and we share the load so well.”
The former Pie was solid in Adelaide’s first Marsh Series game against Melbourne, kicking two goals at Casey Fields.
“I think this game plan is suited towards the player I am and hopefully I can prove that in the season going forward,” Crocker said.
“I’ve been able to start fresh again and I’m really enjoying my time here (in Adelaide).”
