Rory Sloane may be Adelaide’s captain, but Crows fans have made it clear he won’t have their support during Friday night’s State of Origin for Bushfire Relief game at Marvel Stadium.
Sloane is the Club’s sole representative in the Victorian squad to face off against teammates Rory Laird, Brodie Smith and Taylor Walker who will play for the All Stars.
In social media polls conducted on the Crows’ Facebook and Instagram pages, an overwhelming majority of fans threw their support behind the non-Victorian side.
Teresa Whiley wrote on Facebook "Never thought I'd see the day I'd be voting 'against' Rory!", while Lyn Fairlie commented “Can't vote for the BIG V. Boo that! (Sorry Sloaney).”
Mark C Manoel also apologised to the Crows skipper on Facebook "Sorry Sloaney but it’s Kick a Vic time."
Perhaps Karen Rawlins summed it up best when she wrote on Facebook “Don’t matter who you go for, it’s all for charity and that’s the main thing.”
All money raised from Friday night’s game will be donated into a Community Relief Fund set up by the AFL to support local communities affected by the fires.
