Wayne Milera Junior says he’ll push for more midfield minutes in 2020 as he strives for greater versatility.

On the back of signing a five-year contract extension on Thursday, the 22-year-old discussed where he would line up this season.

“I still think I play my best footy down back, with spurts in the midfield - that’s where I’d like to end up,” Milera told reporters.

“But I’m happy to play down back, on the wing, through the midfield.

“I played a bit of footy there (up forward) as a young kid so if I’m needed there (I’ll go there).

“But I’ve played my best footy at half-back and I want to work towards playing in the midfield so that’s where my focus is at the moment.”

For Milera, who has played across the ground since debuting for the Crows in 2016, versatility was paramount.

“I think it’s important I can play multiple roles,” Milera said.

“A situation can happen in a game where someone might go down and you might be need to move.

“You need to be able to play everywhere.”

Milera made the decision to extend his contract on the back of a “fresh” atmosphere among the playing group this pre-season.

“The way the Club is going, I’m pretty happy where it’s at - new coach and a great vibe around the Club,” Milera said.

“The boys are flying and everyone’s loving being here.

“I love this Club and everything it’s done for me.”

The young Crow will enter his fifth season with Adelaide when the season kicks off next month.
