Fresh off signing a five-year contract extension, Wayne Milera Junior has been thrown under the bus by teammate Taylor Walker.
At a press conference on Thursday, Milera was asked by a reporter if he might consider proposing to his girlfriend Nina.
But it was Walker who tipped the reporter off to ask the tricky personal question.
“Wayne obviously things are going well on and off the field…,” the reporter said.
“Any potential ring on the finger?”
Under the pump, Milera quickly identified Walker as the instigator behind the question.
“Was that Tex saying that?” Milera laughed.
“Maybe...”
On Thursday morning, the Club announced Milera had signed a five-year contract extension.
Crows General Manager of List and Strategy Justin Reid said Milera would play a major role both on and off the field over the next five years and beyond.
“He is an outstanding young footballer but most importantly a young man of high character,” Reid said.
“Wayne is an emerging leader who is eager to help others and he is determined to make a positive contribution, not just inside our Club but in the broader community.
“We look forward to seeing him continuing to develop as both a player and person in the years to come, and we are committed to helping him realise his potential.”
