Outgoing Chairman of Directors Bill Sanders delivered his final address at the club’s annual Members Meeting at AAMI Stadium yesterday.

In his final official duty as Adelaide’s Chairman, Sanders thanked his fellow board colleagues and paid credit to the many staff members and supporters of the club.

“It has been an absolute privilege and an honour to serve the Adelaide Football Club,” said Sanders, who was Adelaide’s first CEO in 1991 and has been Chairman of the Board since 2004.

“I think how the board has operated in recent years, there has been some fantastic synergy, there has been stimulating debate around the board table and it all comes in the best interest of the football club in mind.”

“Clubs are made by its people and we have been so fortunate to have maintained stability and continuity with so many key staff in our organisation.

“Also to have the support of so many thousands of Crows fans, it underpins the foundations of our football club.”

Coach Neil Craig also thanked Sanders on the influence he has had on his time at the football club, crediting him with one of his greatest roles in sport.

“Thank you for the work you have done with the Adelaide Football Club and the legacy that you leave behind,” Craig said.

“Personally I’d like to thank you for appointing me and providing me with the greatest sporting opportunity of my life.”
