Adelaide has made a late change to its team to play St Kilda, with Matt Crouch replacing Scott Thompson in the selected 22.

Thompson, 33, will miss the twilight clash with general soreness.

Matt Crouch, who played the opening eight matches of the AFL season, returns to the team after a two-week absence. The emerging midfielder is averaging 24 possessions, including 12 contested, and five clearances per game this season.

St Kilda has also made a late change. Jimmy Webster is into the 22 replacing Daniel McKenzie (illness).

On Friday, the Crows confirmed Rory Laird would make his return from injury on Sunday afternoon. Laird replaced veteran Nathan van Berlo, who was omitted and played in the SANFL on Saturday.

Laird will start Sunday's game on the interchange bench alongside Wayne Milera Junior, Jarryd Lyons and Ricky Henderson.

Laird, 22, returns after missing a month with a fractured toe. The in-form backman was averaging a career-high 26 possessions, six marks and four rebound 50ms prior to getting injured.

Adelaide takes on St Kilda at 4:10pm (local) on Sunday.

The Saints have won their last two games, but haven’t beaten the Crows since Round 18, 2011.

Crows coach Don Pyke said St Kilda’s best football could match it with anyone.

“They nearly beat North Melbourne at Etihad about a month ago, and they’ve won their last two,” Pyke said on Thursday.

“They’re a good, strong team emerging. This is a super even competition and every team is difficult to play against, and provides unique challenges.”
