Adelaide has signed former Victorian cricketer Alex Keath as a Category B rookie.
Keath, a 196cm key position footballer at junior level with Murray Bushrangers and Melbourne Grammar, was listed by the Gold Coast Suns as a 17-year-old priority pick when they started forming their foundation list in 2010.
However, the AFL-AIS graduate opted to pursue a cricket career with Victoria.
Keath, 23, played seven first-class games for Victoria and also represented the Melbourne Stars in Twenty20 games.
He recently moved to Adelaide to play grade cricket with Prospect and will see out that commitment over summer.
Crows Head of Football David Noble said the Club had remained in contact with Keath.
“Alex has a strong background in football and he is someone we have tracked closely,” Noble said.
“Obviously he has been out of the system for several years but he was an elite junior and that’s a good starting point.”
Keath follows former Australian basketballer Hugh Greenwood who recently signed with the Crows as a Category B rookie.
