Three Crows will face fitness tests ahead of this week's round of AFL and SANFL matches.
Brodie Martin was a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s clash with Sydney after being struck down by illness on Friday. The wingman will need to prove he’s recovered at main training on Wednesday to be available for the Friday night blockbuster against Richmond.
Utility Sam Siggins and draftee Harry Dear will be hoping to return in the SANFL this weekend. Siggins sat out the Club’s win over Norwood because of concussion. Dear, 18, hasn’t played since injuring his shoulder in the Club’s SANFL season-opener against North Adelaide at Prospect.
Head of Football David Noble said it would be great to see the key forward back in action.
“On a really positive note, it looks like Harry Dear will be a ‘test’ and possibly available this week,” Noble said.
“It’s terrific news for Harry to be able to get back amongst it in the State League.”
Another of Adelaide’s recruits, rookie Keenan Ramsey is being assessed after injuring his knee against the Redlegs at The Parade on Saturday.
Ramsey, 19, was taken from the ground on a stretcher following a marking contest in the second quarter, and didn’t return to the field.
Noble said the Club would provide an update on the goalkicker in the coming days.
“We’ll be assessing that injury in the next 24-48 hours and we’ll wait and see what the scans reveal,” Noble said.
“It’s probably a bit too early, unfortunately, to inform everyone what the extent of the injury is.”
Midfielder Richard Douglas was ruled out of Friday night’s match after being admitted to hospital late Monday night.
Douglas, 28, required an operation to remove his appendix and is recovering well. He will not play against Richmond and how long he remains sidelined will become clearer in coming days.
Midfielder Brad Crouch has discarded his moon boot as he continues his rehabilitation from a foot complaint. Defender Matthew Jaensch is progressing well nearly three months in to his recovery from a knee reconstruction.
Adelaide’s SANFL team was scheduled to have this weekend off as part of the split round, but will instead play a catch-up game against South Adelaide at Noarlunga at 2:10pm on Saturday. This is to make up for the match that was postponed in the wake of the sudden passing of Crows Senior Coach Phil Walsh last month.
